PVG 32 Proportional Valve Group Technical Information

The PVG 32 is a modular hydraulic load-sensing valve designed for mobile hydraulic systems that need precise, flexible control. It can be configured as a simple load-sensing directional valve or as an advanced electrically controlled, load-independent proportional valve.

The PVG 32 system is built around interchangeable modules, allowing valve groups to be configured for specific machine requirements while maintaining compact dimensions.

Key features include:

  • Load-independent flow control
  • Flow to one function is independent of other function load pressures
  • Energy-saving hydraulic operation
  • Up to 12 basic modules per valve group
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical actuation options
  • Compact, low-weight design

How the PVG 32 Works

The PVG 32 uses load sensing to help hydraulic systems deliver only the flow and pressure required by the active machine functions. In a load-sensing system, the valve communicates demand to the pump through an LS signal. The pump then adjusts output to maintain the required pressure difference between pump pressure and load pressure.

This helps improve efficiency because the system does not need to maintain full flow or full pressure when hydraulic demand is low.

PVG 32 Module Options

The PVG 32 system can include several module types:

PVP Pump Side Modules

PVP modules are available for fixed displacement pump systems and variable displacement pump systems. Options include open center, closed center, pilot oil supply, and versions prepared for electrical LS unloading.

PVB Basic Modules

PVB modules can include interchangeable spools, pressure compensators, load-holding check valves, shock and suction valves, and adjustable LS pressure limiting valves.

Actuation Options

PVG 32 valves can be configured with:

  • Mechanical actuation
  • Hydraulic actuation
  • Electrical actuation
  • CAN-controlled actuation
  • On/off or proportional electrical control

Common Applications

PVG 32 valves are commonly used in mobile hydraulic systems where multiple machine functions need precise control. Relevant applications include:

  • Cranes
  • Lifting and lowering systems
  • Manlifts
  • Fan drives
  • Road rollers
  • Combine harvesters
  • Wood chippers
  • Sweepers
  • Trenchers
  • Drill rigs

Oil, Filtration, and Operating Conditions

Danfoss recommends mineral-based hydraulic oil with appropriate additives for PVG 32 systems. Effective filtration is critical for reliability and service life. Hydraulic system contamination should not exceed ISO 4406 23/19/16, and the pressure or return filtration should be selected based on system requirements.
