Congratulations to the University of Akron on an outstanding showing at this year’s Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge!
The Fluid Power Vehicle Challenge integrates into the capstone design courses that many engineering students take in their senior year. In addition to the hands-on experience, the competition offers invaluable opportunities to engage with industry professionals.
The competition tasks students with designing and building a human-powered vehicle using fluid power systems. This year’s competition featured three races—Sprint, Efficiency, and Endurance—as well as formal presentations and judge interviews. The teams were evaluated on design methodology, safety considerations, and overall engineering rigor.
Kraft was proud to support this talented group of students by providing hardware and software training as well as mentorship throughout the competition. It was an incredibly rewarding experience for everyone involved.
The team’s hard work certainly paid off. They were named Grand Champions by the National Fluid Power Association, secured 1st and 2nd place finishes in their major races, and received special recognition for excellence in electronic controls.
